Sorry Girls, the “Manifesting'“ Era Is Over—Here’s What Actually Changed My Life
Sorry girls, the "manifesting" era is over.
I’ve owned over 100 self-help books. No, seriously—I was that girl. Books with titles promising to unlock happiness, skyrocket productivity, boost confidence, and help me live my "best life." I've highlighted pages, written letters from my "future self" in an attempt to write my own future, and chased after every life hack they offered. And while some of them gave me decent tips, none of them truly changed me. Not in the deep, life-changing way I was craving.
And guess what? That transformation didn’t come from a trendy book or a ten-step morning routine. It came from the Bible and building a personal relationship with Jesus.
Here’s the thing—our best lives don’t come from achieving more, having it all together, or mastering the latest self-improvement trends. They come when we invite Jesus into the very center of our lives. Why? Because He isn’t just a part of the story—He is the story. The source of true peace, joy, and purpose. When we try to fill our hearts with everything but Him, it’s like trying to satisfy our thirst with saltwater—it just leaves us emptier. He IS the LIVING water. John 4:13-14 says "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again."
Imagine never being thirsty again. Imagine always being satisfied because you've built your life around something that will never leave you. Not money, not the shape your body is in, not the clothes you own, not "worldly success," but simply coming to terms with your best life being deeply rooted in God and all of the fullness He has to offer you.
We live in a world obsessed with the next big thing—the next promotion, the next relationship, the next version of ourselves that’s somehow better, shinier, more impressive. It's exhausting, isn’t it? The endless chase, the striving, the constant feeling that we're not quite there yet. We set goals, crush them, and yet there's still an ache for more. Because no matter how many boxes we check, our souls were never meant to be filled by temporary things.
But Jesus? He doesn’t just fill the void—He removes it. He replaces the ache with peace, the hustle with rest, and the striving with purpose. He is the constant when everything else shifts. The same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). When your life is rooted in Him, you’re not building on shifting sand; you’re anchored to something unshakeable.
Okay, so HOW is the Bible the Best Self-Help Book to Ever Exist?
Because it’s not about self-help at all—it’s about soul help. The Bible isn’t a book of quick fixes or trendy hacks. It’s the living, breathing Word of God that speaks to every part of who we are: our hearts, minds, and souls. It’s not just ancient wisdom; it’s timeless truth.
The Bible doesn’t just tell you what to do, it reveals why you were created. It speaks to the core of your identity, not as someone who needs to constantly strive to be enough, but as someone who is already deeply loved and chosen. It isn’t about becoming a better version of yourself; it’s about becoming who you were always meant to be.
I know reading the Bible and pursuing Jesus goes totally against mainstream culture. That's the point. Take a look at the world we live in. Do you really want to be like it? Do you think that maybe, just maybe, there's a chance that a relationship with Jesus isn't mainstream because it holds the KEY to unlock it all? Give God a chance. You have nothing to lose. It's 2025. Let it be the start of pursuing your very best life in HIM.
If you’ve never read the Bible, start small. Open to the book of John and read about Jesus—His kindness, His power, His love for people who felt lost and broken. Don’t overthink it. Just start. Ask God to speak to you through it. And He will.
I get it - I used to think of the Bible as just a book of rules, like some ancient manual collecting dust. But the more I dove in, the more I realized it’s filled with wisdom that makes life richer, fuller, and more peaceful. It’s not just another self-help book—it’s the book that helps your soul. What it is, truly, is one incredible story of a God who loves His people and wants to rescue and restore them. Jesus isn’t about controlling your life; He’s about setting you free to live it fully.
The world constantly throws advice at us—chase success, seek validation, be self-made, hustle harder. But the Bible gives us a blueprint for something deeper and more lasting. Here are ten lessons straight from Scripture that have reshaped the way I live, and I hope they encourage you, too.
Seek First the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33)
Instead of stressing over the future or trying to control every outcome, Jesus tells us to prioritize God’s kingdom and righteousness first. When I started putting faith, prayer, and obedience at the center of my life, everything else started to align in ways I never expected.
There Is Strength in Surrender (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
The world tells us to be self-sufficient, but God reminds us that His power is made perfect in our weakness. Letting go of my need to have it all together allowed me to experience God’s strength in ways I never imagined.
Love Is an Action, Not Just a Feeling (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
The Bible redefines love as patient, kind, and selfless—not just something we feel but something we choose to do. Applying this truth to my relationships has deepened them and made them more meaningful.
Comparison Steals Joy (Galatians 6:4-5)
Social media makes it easy to fall into the trap of comparison, but the Bible reminds us to focus on our own journey and run our own race. I’m honestly still working through this… It’s still something I need God’s help with. I’m already starting to find so much more peace since I’ve started being more intentional about measuring my life against others.
Worry Less, Pray More (Philippians 4:6-7)
Anxiety is real, but so is the peace that comes from handing everything over to God in prayer. This verse has been a game-changer for me in learning to replace stress with trust.
True Beauty Comes from Within (1 Peter 3:3-4)
As someone who loves fashion and aesthetics, this was a humbling lesson. God cares more about a gentle and quiet spirit than outward appearance. When I started focusing on my heart just as much as my looks, I felt more confident than ever.
Discipline Leads to Freedom (Hebrews 12:11)
Whether it’s in fitness, finances, or faith, discipline isn’t always fun, but it produces long-term peace and freedom. The Bible constantly reinforces the idea that discipline is an act of love, not restriction.
The Words You Speak Matter (Proverbs 18:21)
I used to be careless with my words, not realizing the power they held. The Bible teaches that our words can bring life or death. Speaking truth, encouragement, and kindness over myself and others has completely shifted my mindset.
Rest Is Holy (Exodus 20:8-10)
We live in a hustle culture, but God commands rest. Honoring the Sabbath and creating space for stillness has given me clarity, creativity, and a deeper relationship with God.
Your Purpose Is Bigger Than You (Jeremiah 29:11)
It’s easy to feel lost or unsure about the future, but God’s plans are always bigger than our own. Trusting that He has a purpose for my life, even when I don’t have all the answers, has been one of the most freeing realizations.
Closing Thoughts:
The truth is, the Bible isn’t just a book you read—it’s a book that reads you. It meets you where you are, speaks to your heart, and gently reshapes the way you see yourself, others, and the world around you. These lessons have been more than just “life hacks” for me; they’ve been anchors in every season—reminding me of who I am, whose I am, and what really matters.
If you’ve been feeling lost, overwhelmed, or just looking for some direction, I encourage you to open the Bible with fresh eyes. You might be surprised at how personal it feels. My heart wants the absolute best for you, and I pray that you find it. Go live your best life. xoxooo
